Gardening in the Renaissance Era
During WWI and WWII, the Victory Garden appeared in urban areas as part of the publicized war effort.
If we travel back in time — to the Renaissance Era — we see another view of the role gardening played in peoples’ lives.
The wealthy had elaborate ornamental gardens and ate meats flavored with root crops. Edible garden plants were grown by peasants, who were relied on the plants as their food source.
