Cutting Leaf Celery

“Cutting Leaf” Celery, May 2017

Although we’ve had gardens for the past 25 years, our raised bed gardening is in full swing this year — after 3 years of planning and building, we are finally ready. The last bed we added was for herbs, so I’m adding a new topic to my blog as well.

This year, I’m trying “cutting leaf” celery. It’s an herb that has a more mild flavor than stalk celery. So far, it’s growing well and I’ve used it to flavor a breakfast omelette and chicken soup. While it has the basic aroma of being celery, the oils are not nearly as strong.

I will also be drying samples of all the herbs grown, and evaluate them as well.

Watch for more about the culinary herbs we will be growing!
